Backyard Designers

Product Designer

The only position with two slots on the clipboard, because one is never enough. Product designers are the everyday engine of a draft. The pool runs deep here, priced from pocket change to superstar money, and the shipping column matters most. A five means real features that reached real users, not a beautiful graveyard of prototypes.

In real hiring, product designer is the broadest title in software. You own a problem end to end: understand it, sketch the flows, prototype, ship with the PMs and engineers, then fix whatever the launch teaches you. Interfaces, design systems, research on the off days. A portfolio worth cap space shows shipped outcomes and honest tradeoffs. Polished screens are table stakes. It's also the most common design job posting anywhere, so the great ones get drafted fast.
